As someone who’s spent my whole life in Wisconsin, I know a thing or two about Wisconsin values.
I grew up on a dairy farm. I worked my way through UW-River Falls, built a small business in the Northwoods, and spent nearly three decades as a dam tender on the Willow Flowage.
I know what Wisconsin families care about: safe communities, good jobs, protecting our land, and a government that doesn't treat you like you don't know what's best for your own family.
The Radical Left has a very different vision for our state – and they're dead serious about it.
I am writing in strong support of Cedric Schnitzler for the Wisconsin State Assembly. In a time when many voters are looking for leaders who understand both government and everyday life, Cedric stands out as someone who has earned trust through steady service, practical experience, and a genuine connection to the people of western Wisconsin.
A headline floating across the bottom of a recent NEWSMAX television news program caught my curiosity and caused me concern. “Military Retiree Speech Safeguard on Shaky Ground” was the headline. As a career soldier, retiree, and a grass roots political activist, I wondered. After all, it was a recent Democrat Administration that called parents simply speaking at school board meetings “domestic terrorists!”
To help plan for financial hardships, it’s always a good idea to put aside some of your money for a rainy day.
The same applies to Wisconsin government as well.
That is why the state Legislature established the Budget Stabilization Fund in 1986. The money in that account is earmarked for providing revenue stability during periods of below-normal economic activity.
After passing the 2025-27 state budget, we now have just more than $2 billion in “rainy day” reserves.
The older I get, the more history matters to me. As we have gotten closer to America’s 250th birthday, I have spent a lot of time thinking about our Founding Fathers and those who laid the foundation for this great country.
As Independence Day approaches my thoughts turn to the extraordinary courage of our Founding Fathers who, along with only a handful of their neighbors, chose to fight against the tyranny of an oppressive government and declared their Independence. They put their faith in God and pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to make America a free nation.
In today's modern political power structure there is an insidious effort underway to convince Americans to worship the government and place our faith there instead of where it truly belongs:
250 years is an impressive number for these United States. I have gotten to experience 88 ½ of it; more than a third.
I love America because it is a nation born from courage, faith, sacrifice, and an unshakable belief in freedom. As America approaches 250 years of independence, I am reminded that our country did not begin as the strongest nation on earth. It began as thirteen colonies willing to stand up to the world’s greatest superpower of the time. The Founding Fathers risked their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to declare that liberty was worth fighting for. Their boldness created not only a new nation, but a lasting example of self-government for the world.

Our country was founded nearly 250 years ago, with a proclamation of inalienable rights to “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Life is declared first for a reason. If we do not value the gift of life above all else, how can we enjoy freedom or pursue the happiness for which God created us? For decades, the pro-life movement has embodied this spirit of America’s founding in its battle to affirm and protect the sanctity of all human life, and this week we celebrated the fourth anniversary of our greatest victory: the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
According to a recent Gallup survey, support for abortion is declining across the US. Researchers found that the number of Americans who believe abortion is morally acceptable has dropped 5 points to 49% over the last two years. And the number of Americans who believe abortion is morally wrong has increased from 37% to 41%. These numbers show that pro-abortion trends are not permanent, and it is possible for the pro-life movement to make an impact. At Wisconsin Family Council, we are encouraged to see support for abortion declining.
