A Wisconsin congressional campaign recently removed a volunteer after social media videos surfaced showing the activist calling on followers to “kill your local Republican” and promoting what was described as a “trans jihad” against political opponents. The campaign quickly distanced itself from the statements, calling the individual “deeply troubled.” The incident has prompted discussion on the increasingly hostile rhetoric that has become all too common among people with dissenting opinions. Political disagreements should never lead to threats or calls for violence.

Earlier this week, I was honored to receive an Outstanding Legislator Award from the Wisconsin Counties Association for my work during the 2025-26 legislative session.

The WCA’s Outstanding Legislator Award is handed out every two years to an exclusive group of lawmakers who have gone above and beyond to represent county interests in the Legislature and in their districts.

For this recognition, WCA officials selected legislators who demonstrated exceptional leadership for counties on key issues, both in the state budget and through policy proposals.

With Primary Day only a few weeks away, and “early voting” even sooner, it is time to do some serious looking at the candidates even if there is only one candidate for an office. The state-wide contests for Attorney General and State Treasurer will only have one candidate on the ballot.

The La Crosse County Board finally did the right thing by voting to end the SMRT bus program in 2027. But it took far too long.

Why it matters: County officials knew the numbers a year ago. With ridership averaging just 29 riders per day in 2025 and a $280,000 annual price tag, this program was clearly unsustainable. Taxpayers deserved action sooner.

The bigger question: Is subsidized transportation even a proper role for local government?

One year ago, the Working Families Tax Cuts was signed into law. This historic legislation delivered the largest tax cut in American history, putting more money back into the pockets of hardworking Americans while protecting benefits for our most vulnerable citizens.

The results speak for themselves.

American families and workers have claimed more than $82 billion in individual tax relief through the Working Families Tax Cuts. During this past tax filing season, 97% of filers received a tax cut, despite every Democrat in Congress voting against the bill.

My socialist opponent Francesca Hong recently went on Hasan Piker’s livestream to receive cash from his unhinged, communist followers. And within hours of his endorsement, they flooded her campaign with over $50,000!

Investing in Our Rural Roads

I recently attended the groundbreaking for a project to reconstruct Ladwig Road in the Town of Sylvester and County Road FF in Green County. These roads are being improved using nearly $4 million in funding from the Agricultural Roads Improvement Program (ARIP), a program Rep. Travis Tranel (R-Cuba City) and I authored to help upgrade local roads that Wisconsin farmers rely on every day.
