The Contested Conservative Primaries

Three of the five Republican Primary Elections for state-wide office on August 11th will be contested meaning there will be more than one candidate on the ballot. With Primary Day only a few weeks away, and “early voting” even sooner, it is time to do some serious looking, comparing, and choosing your favorite candidate for each office. The state-wide contests for Governor, Lt. Governor, and Secretary of State have multiple candidates while the contests for Attorney General and State Treasurer do not.

During my first years, I would sit with my family and listen to FDR's Fireside Chats. He was always included in conversations after a dinner for a family get together. All of the men on Dad's side were coal miners; grandpa and one uncle on Mom's side. They volunteered to serve in the armed forces in WWII. It is no stretch to say they loved America.

Wisconsin needs leaders with a proven record, not just campaign promises. That's why I'm supporting David Varnam for lieutenant governor.

As a three-term mayor of Lancaster, David Varnam delivered real results. When he left office, Lancaster had the lowest property taxes and the lowest utility fees of any city in Grant County. That's the kind of fiscal leadership Wisconsin needs as families continue to struggle with rising costs.

LEAD WI Starts Sunday

This Sunday, over 150 students from across Wisconsin will arrive at Maranatha Baptist University for LEAD Wisconsin. For one exciting week, these young people will be challenged to think Biblically, lead courageously, and discover how God can use them to make an impact.

Female Student Takes a Stand

A Wisconsin teen named Ella has made headlines the past few months after her bold statements at a school board meeting. At the meeting, Ella begged the New Richmond School Board to protect her, and other high school girls, from biological males in girls' bathrooms and locker rooms. Despite receiving backlash from some of her peers and teachers, Ella has continued to speak out online about her experience and the importance of women-only spaces in high schools. We are proud of Ella and her courageous stand against policies that hurt women and girls.

Expiration of Knowles-Nelson

The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program – which was created by the Wisconsin State Legislature in 1989 to preserve natural parcels of land, protect water quality and expand outdoor recreational opportunities – expired last week after 37 years of existence.

In response, some legislators have been making misleading allegations about why Knowles-Nelson has come to an end.

Because of that misinformation, I thought it would be beneficial to pen a column explaining the real reason behind the demise of the stewardship program.
