This week, while you were preparing for your 4th of July cookout and planning where to watch the fireworks, Wisconsin's new fiscal year began. Wisconsin's fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30 each year.

Last summer at this time, we were just finishing up the two year state budget. We created a responsible, bipartisan budget that funded our shared priorities and delivered the second largest tax cut in state history.

Lunatic Leftists like Tim Walz are calling for liberals to stand against ICE and “loudly protest”. We’ve all seen how “mostly peaceful protests” go in Minnesota, so I can’t even imagine what mayhem Walz will unleash this time!

“All politics is local” is a phrase credited to the 47th Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Boston Irish Democrat, Tip O’Neill. O’Neill was the second longest uninterrupted serving Speaker in United States history and was the Speaker during President Ronald Reagan’s almost entire eight years in the White House (except for the last seventeen days). O’Neil, the “outspoken, liberal Democrat”, and Reagan, the California conservative, got along famously well!

I released the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that states may prohibit biological males from competing in girls’ and women’s sports.

It’s common sense that biological males should not compete in girls’ and women’s sports. Every female athlete deserves a level playing field and the opportunity to compete safely and fairly. Unfortunately, Governor Evers vetoed legislation that would have protected girls’ sports in Wisconsin. As governor, I will sign legislation ensuring that biological males cannot compete in girls’ and women’s sports in our state.

Our nation turns 250 years old this Saturday and many communities in our area will be hosting Fourth of July festivities to celebrate the occasion.

On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress formally adopted the Declaration of Independence, a document that declared the 13 American colonies were severing ties with Great Britain and were now independent states.

The Declaration of Independence has served as a powerful statement of ideals that has continued to inspire movements for freedom and equality worldwide.
