congress
My wife and I were talking about our traditional July vacation Up North and I informed her that while I may be taking a vacation from work with her and the family I cannot, in good conscience, take a vacation from my country. What do I mean by that? I'll have my cell phone and laptop with me in our vacation cabin near the lake in St. Germain, Wisconsin so I can continue to work hard to help Dan Kapanke go to Congress to begin the process of strengthening our country and correcting the wrongs that have occurred under the watch of our current congressman.
A friend recently shared the following quote with me. In his email, he attributes it to someone in the Czech Republic but regardless of its origin I felt it was worth sharing with you. My analysis of these sentiments follows below.
I called Ron Kind's office today to find out what his opinion was of the "deem and pass" procedure that was being worked on by Nancy Pelosi and Louise Slaughter to "deem" the Senate health care bill passed without actually voting on it. The staffer I spoke to said she was not aware of that so I explained it to her and she instructed me that it was a figment of my imagination. What arrogance!
My wife informed me that we received our 2010 US Census form in the mail the other day. I instructed her that I want to be the one to fill it out because I will answer N.O.Y.B. to those questions that are, frankly, none of the government’s business. When my wife asked me, "What’s the big deal about telling them how old you are?" I replied, "It’s not just about telling them how old I am. It’s the principle that the federal government is not our master and I want to make that clear to them. We must re-define the relationship between the individual and the federal government."
The Reedsburg Press recently wrote an article about Kind's telephone townhall. In their report they state, "In response to a caller who questioned his voting record regarding high spending in Washington, Kind said that 'there’s plenty of blame to go around.' Although he recently voted to increase the national debt ceiling, Kind added that Congress is beginning to take appropriate actions to control spending. 'There’s going to be a ban on earmarks for all for-profit companies,' he said." Click here for the whole story.
The caller was me. You can hear Ron Kind's intro and my Q&A with the congressman by clicking here.
