The recent federal ruling by a judge in San Fransisco and the resulting demonization of the average citizens who dare to believe in tradition has inspired me to examine my own beliefs. I offer this short description of my beliefs and I pray that I am also describing a majority of freedom-loving, tradition-respecting Americans throughout the nation.
This may come as a surprise to some of you who read my blog posts regularly but politics isn't the only thing I think about.
I recently admitted to a friend that during Holy Week I am trying to spend as little time as possible on politics. Compared to Christ's amazing resurrection and His victory over sin our political differences seem very petty.
As a Christian Conservative I try to remember His love when I interact with people I disagree with and it pains me that there is a perception among many that my disagreement with liberals and their policies means I hate them. Nothing could be further from the truth. Disagreement does not equal hatred and it is possible to respect individuals for having the courage to express their opinions while disagreeing with their points of view.
With this in mind I offer the sincerest prayer that everyone reading this will have a Blessed Easter celebration regardless of your political ideology.
We'd like to announce the premiere of 7 Rivers Talk with Bob Burull on KQEG-23 on Monday, March 1, at 5: 30 p.m., featuring guests LaCrosse Mayor Matt Harter and Station Manager Rick Wilson. Station KQEG-23 is a newly renovated UHF station that will pass approximately 75,000 households through off-air and cable networks covering all of LaCrosse, outer suburbs, and rural cable stations. 7-Rivers is the name of daily 5:30 p.m.
Merry Christmas!
Christmas is a time for joy in celebrating the birth of Christ - our Savior from sin. Sadly, Christ is getting evicted from Christmas in the hearts and minds of many. For others, the guy in the big, red suit (of whom I recently heard is a bad example of obesity and poor dietary habits) is what Christmas is all about.
That's why I wrote this in 2007 for the CouleeNews, Onalaska Life, and Holmen Courier. Enjoy!
This blog entry is just my humble reminder for myself and for all of you reading it to take a moment during your Christmas celebrations and remember the greatest Christmas present in all of human history:
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16
So it is with all humility and a heart filled with thanksgiving to our Lord Jesus Christ that I pray for you to have a joyous Christmas and many blessings for your family in the new year.
Several of you reading this already know that my family has been experiencing a very difficult year. Diane's mother went to Heaven suddenly after a 4-day ordeal with cancer and her father has Alzeihemer's and his health is deteriorating. Needless to say, it's been a tough year filled with many challenges.
I mention all of that because I want you to understand the context of our Thanksgiving this year.
I cannot count how many times I have heard or read liberals argue that we are not a Christian nation. President Obama recently made this false statement himself. Liberals want you to believe that our Founding Fathers were deists or agnostic but consider the following quote by John Adams,
