...and Another Bribe to Voters

By Chris Muller - Posted on 30 January 2010

Gee, it must be an election year.  Ron Kind is on a roll handing out our federal tax dollars (see his recent press release copied below) in his attempt to bribe voters.  He even voted recently to raise the debt ceiling so our nation can go even deeper into debt and print more worthless money to keep future handouts comng and ensure that future generations have to pay the bills. How many of you reading this message plan to run up as much debt as possible in your lifetime and then pass it along to your children later?  Why is it acceptable for the Congress to do this?  I understand the need to have good equipment to help emergency services but is it really necessary to bankrupt our nation in order to provide our communities with these tools?  What ever happened to good, ole-fashioned bake sales and community fundraising efforts?

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) today announced that the Town of Sand Creek Fire Department has received an $11,250 Community Facility Grant administered by the United States Department of Agriculture under the Rural Development program .

“I am pleased that the Sand Creek fire department is receiving the funding needed to continue to provide an essential service to this community, “said Rep. Kind. “This funding will help local fire fighters better serve the community that depends on them.”

The g rant will be used to purchase a new Class 5 rescue and fire brush truck that will replace the current truck, which was the most used piece of equipment last year responding to 55 medical, car accidents/rescue and brush fire calls. The fire department serves the township of Sand Creek in Dunn County, a small part of the township of Sioux Creek in Barron County, and has mutual aid contracts with seven surrounding fire departments and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

The USDA Rural Development program helps communities build or improve community facilities such as schools, health clinics and fire stations, to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life for all rural Americans. Through direct or guaranteed loans, grants, technical assistance, research and educational materials, the Rural Development programs work to revitalize rural areas through 47 states.
