More restrictions on speech?

The Wisconsin Government Accountability Board issued a new rule this year about how individuals and groups can express their opinions.  The Democrat controlled legislature chose to allow it to proceed and it went into effect on August 1st.  Here is what they say on their web site,

"This rule means that if people or groups run independent ads, which for all intents and purposes are political ads for or against a candidate, they will be required to disclose what they’re doing and where the money is coming from," said Kevin J. Kennedy, director and general counsel of the G.A.B. "It will improve transparency in campaign finance and elections, and help voters make informed decisions at the ballot box."

With this in mind I want to ask the G.A.B. some specific questions:

  1. Doesn't your new rule create a chilling effect on the people's right to free expression?
  2. If I were to post on my blog something like this: "Ron Kind deserves to be removed from office.  Vote for Dan Kapanke."  Would that be a violation of your new rule?
  3. What about all of my other blog posts regarding my political opinion of Ron Kind?

If this is a violation of your new rule, then, TOO BAD.  I am going to keep doing it until you physically FORCE me to stop.  I refuse to be intimidated by your efforts to restrict freedom of speech.  This is still the United States of America and you have absolutely no authority to deny our First Amendment rights.

You should be ashamed of yourselves for concocting this soft tyranny in the first place.  What kind of insanity are you practicing there in Madison? Have you no shame?  Have you no understanding of the founding principles of this great nation?
