Remembering 9/11
It hardly seems like 10 years have past since the day 19 terrorists turned passenger planes into guided missiles. The leading story in the national news up until just before 8:46 am EDT was the disappearance of Chandra Levy and whether or not Congressman Gary Condit was a withholding information regarding their affair and her disappearance. Then within the blink of an eye, America was under attack. A clear day with beautiful blue sky was marred with death and destruction. I still remember the raw emotion I felt as I sat in my living room, watching the 2nd plane hit the South Tower of the World Trade Center. The shock, horror, disbelief, anger, rage, sadness, and grief that I, and the rest of America, are still fresh in my mind every time I see or hear something related to 9/11. As I sit here in my living room 10 years later, I thank God that another major terror attack hasn't happened in our country. I thank God for the fearless men and women who fought back against Flight 93's hijackers. They gave their lives to prevent even more death and destsruction. I thank God for the many men and women who gave their lives in the name of preserving freedom as firefighters, police, first responders, and the military. I pray that God continues to bless and preserve the families of those who lost loved ones and friends on 9/11. May we never forget that freedom isn't free. Freedom comes at a price too dear to name. May God continue to bless the United States of America!
