The third anniversary of President Obama’s so called “stimulus” legislation and his recently released debt laden budget are painful reminders of the grim situation that continues to worsen in Washington.  It is an insult to everyone in America to propose that more spending, more borrowing, and more taxing are going to improve what $862 billion of stimulus spending has failed to accomplish in the past three years.  Today the unemployment rate is the same, fewer people are actually working, and more have given up trying. The only thing that has changed is the size of the national debt which the President wants to increase even more.

These dangerous developments underscore the urgent need for new leadership in Washington. It is time that “out of touch” politicians who support these big spending fantasies be held accountable for the national disaster they have created. Many of those who claim to be fighting for the average working family appear to have no clue that most families have the courage and wisdom to live within their means and resent being told that big government knows best. They also resent being lectured to by those who claim to know more than what the average person is facing in reality.

It is time for an honest, adult discussion of what is really going on. We need straight talk, not double talk about the situation we are in as a nation and what it’s really going to take to get out of it. That discussion must not be about spending more money that we don’t have.  It will have to be about what a real “fair share” of responsibility means to every citizen living in our great country. Freedom is not free and we cannot remain the land of the free if we are not willing to be the home of the brave.
