Ignorance is Bliss and Other Debate Observations
After watching the town hall presidential debate I began to wonder just how many voters in America are still ignorant enough to vote for President Obama again. Anyone who watched the town hall-style debate witnessed the President of the United States lie directly to the American people when he told us that on the day after the murder of our ambassador to Libya he was calling the event a terrorist act. If ignorance truly is bliss then count me among the miserable souls in the country who have been paying attention to the facts surrounding this foreign policy disaster and, as such, I know that the President lied to me and all of America with that statement. He and his administration spent several days trying to convince the world that the events in Libya were 'a spontaneous reaction to a YouTube video' and now he has the gall to tell us he was calling it a terrorist attack all along? Just how stupid does he think we are?
Of course the question still remains: how many Americans are ignorant of the facts and, therefore, may never realize that their own president just lied to them? My guess is that there are at least a couple million people who are more interested in Honey Boo-Boo's latest antics than on what actually happened to the ambassador in a region of the world that is a tinder box just waiting for the right spark to ignite a global conflict. I further surmise that it is specifically these type of voters who the president is relying on for his re-election. You see, he cannot possibly expect people of intelligence to fall for his B.S. two elections in a row. Can he?
There are a whole lot of people in this country who are fit to be tied because of this president's failure over the past 4 years. Even though many of us were trying to convince them otherwise, they fell for Obama's fantasy land vision and now they feel betrayed. They also feel embarrassed at getting suckered by him and they will not vote for him again as a result. Whether or not they vote for Romney remains to be seen but the worst case scenario is that they will simply stay home on election day and boycott the 'Messiah' during this round. It's a 'fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me' reaction to this political environment. I call it the FMOSOY effect (fuh-mah-soy).
This is why I believe Obama will lose the election. His support is dwindling more every day and Romney's is growing. I have no doubt that there are still people in America who are either blissfully ignorant of the facts or, even scarier, they know the facts but completely ignore them in order to maintain the fantasy land in their minds. This is something that keeps me up at night. Do mindless zombies like this truly exist in America? If so, do they make up the majority of our voters? No Halloween movie can compare to the nightmare that will take place in this nation if the answer is 'yes.'
Time will tell but November 6th is approaching quickly and we will soon have an answer to that question. I firmly believe that the majority of Americans are very thoughtful and intelligent enough to make Obama a one term president. Then again, I am a hopeless optimist and may be living in a fantasy land of my own, so, just like the rest of the planet, I'm waiting anxiously to see what happens.
