SCOTUS 2nd Amendment Decision

Thomas Jefferson

"The multiplication of public offices, increase of expense beyond income, growth and entailment of a public debt, are indications soliciting the employment of the pruning knife."

If you needed any more evidence that Ron Kind is nothing more than a deceptive, slickster politician then consider his most recent press release and upcoming press conference today.  (See it copied below for your convenience or click here for the original).

I have been following this man's career in Washington for the last 10-years and every year it becomes painfully more obvious that Ron Kind will say anything in order to get re-elected but his actions are far different from his rhetoric (check out what I have recorded on this blog to get a sense of his history).  Yet he has the gall to lecture us in a press conference about being fiscally responsible?  Does he live in Bizarro world or does he trully think we are all stupid enough to fall for this smoke and mirrors trick?

For example, was it fiscally responsible when Ron Kind voted to support the bailouts? He publicly admitted that calls to his office were either "no" or "hell no" yet he defied the will of the people and supported the bailouts anyway.  And what did it get us?  Double digit unemployment rates and auto companies that ended up declaring bankruptcy anyway except, thanks to Ron Kind and his bribe to the auto unions, our children and grandchildren are now going to pay the bill for this mess instead of the incompetent auto executives who caused the problems.

Was it fiscally responsible when Ron Kind voted in favor of legislation that will add taxes and fees on the very air we exhale?  "Cap and Trade" will impose taxes and fines on CO2 levels (the air that the human body exhales) and if that becomes law not only will our taxes increase dramatically but our energy costs will skyrocket and many businesses will need to lay off workers or close shop all-together.

Was it fiscally responsible when Ron Kind voted in favor of the government take-over of health care?  If it becomes law that legislation will add trillions to the deficit and will lead to draconian cuts to Medicare and the eventual rationing of our health care.  It will also force companies to seriously consider whether they will continue to offer health insurance to employees or simply drop coverage to lower expenses.  And, to top it all off, the law would put people in prison if they refuse to purchase health insurance for themselves.

Folks, Ron Kind says a lot of stuff during the election cycle.  For many years now he has totally gotten away with saying things in the media that sound terrific but then doing the exact opposite when he sneaks back to Washington.  Don't believe a single word that comes out of his mouth.  Simply watch what he does because his actions speak far more than words and they are usually the exact opposite of what he tells you.

Having said all this I have two big questions to ask, 1) Will you fall of this kind of rhetoric again or will you vote for Dan Kapanke, a man who has proven to be trustworthy and honest with voters? and 2) Will the journalists in our region actually hold Ron Kind accountable for his actions or will they simply repeat his talking points?

U.S. Rep. Kind press conference on fiscal responsibility

La Crosse District Office,
205 5th Ave. S., Suite 400,
La Crosse.

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Rep. Kind (D-WI) will hold a press conference in La Crosse Monday, January 25 at 1:30 p.m. CST to stress the need for increased fiscal responsibility in government decision making and discuss ways to pay down the national deficit.

"Fiscal responsibility could not be more important as we face a tough economic environment and two wars overseas," said Rep. Kind. "Having investigated some of Senator Bill Proxmire’s Golden Fleece awards that pointed out wasteful government spending, I have long been committed to responsible spending . We must begin dealing with our long-term fiscal challenges to ensure that future generations are not stuck with our unpaid bills."
