Huebsch vs. Hancock: the Sequel

Mike Huebsch said it best during the debate he had with Cheryl Hancock last night: The choice that voters have in the 94th Assembly District is a clear one.  Voters can choose the classic conservative approach that Mike Huebsch provides and has provided for several years or they can choose the modern liberal/progressive approach that Cheryl Hancock would provide.  In other words, this is exactly the same choice that voters had back in 2008 when Hancock first challenged Huebsch and nothing has changed since then.

What is a classic conservative?  Simply examine Mike's record to discover the answer to that question.  I have been voting for Mike ever since I moved to Onalaska in the late '90s.  He approaches his role in government the way our family sits down to lead our own lives: with common sense and a firm grasp on the reality that we find ourselves in so that we can overcome the real challenges that we face.  In other words, at a time when our state is billions of dollars in debt we should not be pursuing high speed rail that will add billions more to our debt.  Something Cheryl Hancock is passionately in favor of pursuing.  We simply cannot afford it at this time and Mike even agreed, as do I, that it would be a wonderful thing to have in the state. But now is not the time for such luxuries.  There has to be an adult in the room to tell the children when they've had too much candy and cannot have any more to prevent them from getting sick.  Well, we've been intoxicated on the candy of government programs for far too long and it's time to put a stop to it.

So what does it mean to be a modern liberal/progressive? Again, examine the record to discover the answer to that.  Cheryl Hancock has been president of the Holmen school board for several years.  Just in the last few years their property tax levy has skyrocketed.  Some estimates show that it is up as much as 38% from just a few years ago while school districts like La Crosse and Onalaska are maybe half that.  Why is Holmen property tax levies increasing at such an alarming rate?  Because of the leadership that the modern liberal Cheryl Hancock provides.  You see, in modern liberalism, reality doesn't matter when deciding what to do.  It doesn't matter if taxpayers can afford things or not.  If it feels good then just do it and then find a way to tax the voters their children, and sometimes their grandchildren in order to get it paid for.

Folks, it's time for responsible adults to take the reigns in Madison and get solutions in place that will allow our economy to grow and prosper.  Mike Huebsch has been doing that through all his years of service and has earned another term because he represents the best interests of the families and businesses of the 94th Assembly District.  It's a very clear choice.  A vote for Mike Huebsch is a vote for responsible, adult solutions while a vote for Cheryl Hancock is a vote for idealistic fantasies and endless spending to achieve an impossible Utopia.  Decide for yourself which option makes the most sense.  I'm sticking with the responsible adult in this election and I encourage you to support Mike Huebsch as well.
