As we get closer to celebrating America’s 250th this Independence Day, I am reminded that one of the greatest privileges we enjoy as Americans is the opportunity to participate in the electoral process. Elections shape the future of our communities, our state, and our nation, and every eligible voter has the opportunity to make his or her voice heard.

There is a critical primary election that will conclude on TuesdayAugust 11. Have you made your plan to vote in this important election? You can see who will be on your ballot at myvote.wi.gov.

With this Election Day approaching, now is the time to make your voting plan; there are a few options available to you. Early voting provides a convenient option for those with busy schedules, travel plans, or unforeseen circumstances that may make voting on Election Day more difficult.

Last Friday, I locked in my vote by mailing in my absentee ballot. In Wisconsin, you can currently request an absentee ballot by mail at myvote.wi.gov. If you choose this option, we encourage you to mail back your ballot no later than Friday, July 31, and to track your ballot at myvote.wi.gov to ensure it arrives at your clerk’s office.

With absentee ballots available now, we want to make it clear for our partners who Wisconsin Family Action’s Political Action Committee is endorsing this election cycle. You can find our endorsed candidates HERE. I encourage you to join me in voting for lieutenant governor candidate David Varnam. David has displayed a lifelong commitment to advancing Biblical values in the public square.

Early in-person voting is available, depending on your municipality’s office hours, from Tuesday, July 28, through Sunday, August 9. If you plan to vote early in-person, we encourage you to contact your clerk’s office to secure your vote. You can go to myvote.wi.gov for your local clerk’s contact information.

The last way to vote is in-person on Election Day, Tuesday August 11. Polls in Wisconsin are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Citizens who faithfully engage in their communities and exercise the responsibilities that accompany our freedoms have shaped our nation’s history. So, as election day draws near, make and execute your plan to vote for candidates who will lessen evil.
