Over the last eight months in the majority, House Republicans have been working tirelessly to deliver wins to American workers and families.

In the first seven months, we have passed 50 bills, 39 of which have been bipartisan, to secure the southern border, lower energy prices for the American people, protect our daughters playing in women’s sports, ensure parents have a say in their children’s education, and fully fund veterans’ care and benefits.

WI Lawmakers File Motion to Remove Protasiewicz From Redistricting Cases

Wisconsin Republican lawmakers initiated a motion to remove Justice Janet Protasiewicz from two redistricting lawsuits because of potential conflicts of interest. These come as a result of campaign donations she received from the state Democratic Party, as well as her previous remarks saying in her opinion the existing lines favor Republicans. The motion argues that state law and the U.S. Constitution require her removal from these cases.

As our summer begins to wind down, so, eventually, does the flurry of road construction. The warmer months brought the perfect opportunity to repair and enhance our roads. Each year, the Department of Transportation completes 350 to 400 state highway projects – averaging $1.5 million each. In addition, WisDOT returns more than $500 million to local governments to help finance the operation and improvement of locally owned roads, streets, and bridges.

"Earthquake" Rocks WI

On Wednesday, August 1st, Wisconsin experienced an earthquake. Did you feel it? No Richter scale picked up its magnitude, but the impact was felt all across the state, from large cities to small towns. While no buildings were toppled and no property damage was done, the destruction began almost immediately, with more to come. It’s true that no lives were lost at the time, but the aftershock will no doubt result in loss of human life.

Does “Troops-to-Teachers” Work?

“Troops-to-Teachers” is a federal program to specifically assist servicemen leaving the Armed Forces transition into the teaching profession. There are at least two prerequisites: a Bachelor degree and a desire to teach in the K-12 environment. Originally authorized in 1992, Troops-to-Teachers started in the Department of Education but was transferred to the Department of Defense in 2013 and has suffered changes since then.

More rural and agricultural media programming needed

Senate Resolution 113 and House Resolution 451, “Recognizing the need for greater access to rural and agricultural media programing”, are critical for all Americans. These resolutions are identical, contain ten “Whereas” statements, and only one “Resolved” statement. The intent is to get the support of both the Senate and the House of Representatives and then put something related to the resolution in the new Farm Bill now in Committee.

WI Legislators Reintroduce Bills to Protect Women's Sports

Wisconsin Republican legislators have again introduced two bills, Senate Bill 377 (Assembly Bill 378) and Senate Bill 378 (Assembly Bill 377) aimed at prohibiting biological males who "identify" as girls or women from competing in girls' or women's sports. The proposed legislation would mandate that student athletes join teams aligned with their biological sex, unless the team is specified as co-ed.

Governing by Veto

Last week, Governor Evers took out his veto pen and vetoed ten bills that were passed by the Legislature. Those included a package of bills that would prevent unemployment insurance abuse and better direct resources to those who need assistance to get back to work.
