$203M investment to strengthen rural health care in Wisconsin

I applaud the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announcement that Wisconsin will receive $203,670,005 through the Rural Health Transformation Program, part of a historic $50 billion investment created under President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts legislation to strengthen and modernize rural health care across America.

Beginning in 2026, this funding will support Wisconsin-led efforts to expand access to care, strengthen the rural health workforce, modernize facilities and technology, and keep care local for rural families, seniors, and veterans across the state.

Every American citizen should have access to readily available, high-quality, and actually affordable health care. This $203 million investment delivers real support for rural Wisconsin hospitals, clinics, and health care workers. Republicans fought to get this done, and not one Democrat voted for it. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, rural Wisconsin is finally getting the support it deserves.

The Rural Health Transformation Program will distribute $10 billion annually from 2026 through 2030, with funding allocated based on rural need, policy innovation, and the potential to deliver measurable improvements in access and outcomes.

The $50 billion investment strengthens rural health care in Wisconsin and across the nation by focusing on:

  • A Nationwide Commitment to Strengthen Rural Health Care
  • Bringing More Care Within Reach for Rural Families
  • Strengthening and Sustaining the Rural Clinical Workforce
  • Modernizing Rural Health Infrastructure and Technology
  • Advancing Innovative Care Models and Payment Reform
  • Driving Structural Efficiency & Empowering Community Providers
