Rocks are heavy, trees are made of wood, gravity is real, and the La Crosse Tribune is the communications department for the floundering Pfaff campaign. They will demonstrate this once again when they issue a gushing endorsement for Pfaff this weekend. This last ditch effort to rescue Pfaff from himself is yet another blatant attempt to influence a federal election by helping get a compliant congressperson elected who they are ideologically aligned with and can shill for unreservedly.

I recently returned from an east coast trip that included a stop at the President James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Mentor, Ohio where I gleaned a bit of trivia that seems as important in this coming election as it was then.

To set the stage the year was 1863 and Garfield had fought gallantly at the Battle of Chickamauga in September. He went to Washington, D.C. in October and was soon promoted to Major General. He was elected to Congress in November. And, in December he wrote to his friend Mark Hopkins:

SEN Johnson on his "Ron on the Road" show has been stopping to autograph field signs along the way.

One of the reasons SEN Johnson + DVO were delayed getting to Sparta was that they stopped to sign some of the hundreds of signs that we have put up along the way. Two locations they stopped at in Monroe Cty were on the fence near the traffic circle in Cashton and at a house along Hwy 27 just South of Sparta. We already have had one request to keep the signs +++ I said YES.
