I joined Reps. Travis Tranel (R-Cuba City) and Don Vruwink (D-Milton) along with Sen. Brad Pfaff (D-Onalaska) to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing dairy farming in Wisconsin. One prominent item that has support from both sides of the aisle is the bill that I've introduced with Rep. Loren Oldenburg (R-Viroqua) to reform the state's Farmland Preservation Program. This bill modernizes the program and further encourages farmers to adopt practices that maintain farmland and safeguard soil and water from pollutants. We also discussed the importance of opening new markets for Wisconsin products and the work that the Dairy Innovation Hub is doing to expand the number of dairy products we offer - including cheese that lowers cholesterol.
