Webster – Mistaken Identity?

Recently someone commented that the pseudonym of Webster that one of our contributors uses was based on the 1980's sitcom by the same name. That sitcom’s main character was a young boy; too young to be writing meaningful articles about the economy, elections, government, or family values. Instead, our contributor picked Webster in honor of the 19th century American Statesman that represented New Hampshire then Massachusetts in the US Senate and later served as the United States Secretary of State for three Presidents.

Following is the note a friend received from Representative Sean Duffy

Message from Rep Sean Duffy:

Next to marrying Rachel, representing you – the people and families of Wisconsin’s 7th District - in Congress has been the highest honor of my life. Together, we have engaged in the most important battles of our time: protecting freedom of speech and religious liberty, taking care of our veterans, defending the unborn, and saving American jobs and American capitalism.

historic rainy day fund

The historic rainy day fund is about to get even larger thanks to the positive impact of our Republican reforms. The Legislative Fiscal Bureau (LFB) released the preliminary 2018-19 general fund tax collections. According to the Department of Revenue, collections are up 7.4 percent over the previous year. That means the state is taking in $75.5 million more. It's good to see that our state economy continues to grow and that our pro-growth initiatives are paying off for the state. Keep in mind, the GOP has cut taxes by more than $8 billion over the last eight years.

What should we do about LT Governor Barnes?

Now that LT Governor Barnes has been in office for more than six months we are learning more about him, his character and his integrity; and it is probably time that the citizens of Wisconsin consider some appropriate action. In Wisconsin, the primary responsibility of the LT Governor is to be ready to assume the Governorship if the Governor is unavailable or otherwise unable to perform the duties of Governor. This means that LT Governor Barnes is “a heartbeat away” from becoming Governor! So what has LT Governor Barnes done to cause questioning of his behavior?

Senator Shilling & Bipartisanship Rhetoric

Some four or five months ago I attended a breakfast where La Crosse’s State Senator Jennifer Shilling (D-32), the State Senate Minority Leader, shared some encouraging words on the need for bipartisanship in the Wisconsin Legislature. On the surface, they were comments that should make every patriotic citizen smile; but under the surface I suspect they were meant as an attack on the majority party.

Common Sense Gun Laws

For several years I have been calling for common sense gun laws. In all these years my common-sense proposals have fallen on deaf ears by politicians who are afraid of what the fake news will say about them if they support my proposals. It seems, even in the wake of additional mass shootings, I am still the only one with the courage to propose ideas that truly will work.

What does liberty and freedom mean to you?

Governor Evers has called for universal background checks on all gun transactions. That means that in order for it to work, the government will need to know who owns all guns and where they live, where the guns are stored and what type they are. (Please note that those who have criminal gun uses in mind will not participate.)
