It’s Time to Defund Big Abortion
Did you know that abortion is the leading cause of death in America? Planned Parenthood is raking in nearly $2 million in taxpayer dollars per day to continue its twisted agenda. That’s why Wisconsin Family Action signed onto a letter alongside more than 150 pro-life organizations representing all 50 states to urge Congress to defund Big Abortion.
“Planned Parenthood’s most recent annual report boasted that they performed nearly 393,000 abortions – a 40% market share of the abortion industry in the U.S.,” the letter, sponsored by Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, reads. “Women and children deserve better care. In an era of reexamining federal funding, Congress should start by cutting funding for Big Abortion in the upcoming reconciliation bill."
It should go without saying – American taxpayers should not be funding the brutal murder of innocent babies in the womb, especially when so many have a strong moral objection to doing so.
“The pro-life movement is fully united around getting taxpayers out of the brutal abortion industry, which kills 1 million babies and harms countless mothers each year,” SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser stated. “It’s unconscionable that abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood are propped up by hundreds of millions of dollars annually, courtesy of the U.S. taxpayer. Our 150-member-strong coalition representing every state in the country sends a clear message that the abortion industry never deserves our tax dollars and that this Republican Congress has both the support and the duty to defund Big Abortion.”
Congress has two routes to pulling federal funding for Planned Parenthood and other abortion giants. The first is through key legislation, such as HR 272, that would immediately pull funds allocated to abortion clinics for one year. The second method is through budget reconciliation, a process in which the House and Senate collaborate to decide which programs and organizations to cut and fund. This was successfully done in 2015 and 2017, when Republican legislators passed reconciliation bills that banned federal tax dollars from funding abortion clinics. If it was accomplished 10 years ago under a Republican Congress, we know it can be accomplished again today.
If you want to take a stand against Big Abortion, please join us on Saturday, June 14, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wisconsin State Capitol for our annual March for Life event, which Wisconsin Family Council is proud to co-sponsor. This peaceful march is a perfect opportunity to let your voice be heard by Wisconsin legislators and elected officials.
Our state and federal tax dollars should never fund the murder of innocent pre-born babies. We believe 2025 will be the year the tide turns against the abortion industry. Join us in praying for an abortion-free future for the United States!
