The Assembly is back in session and things have been picking up here in Madison. On Thursday, September 11th, my Republican colleagues and I voted to pass several bills aimed at improving how our government serves the people of Wisconsin. From strengthening accountability in our state agencies, to expanding access to essential health services and streamlining vital programs, these proposals reflect a commitment to practical, people-first solutions.

Highlights from session include:

In-Person Work Requirements for State Employees - Requires most state employees to perform their duties in person at their designated workplace, promoting transparency, responsiveness, and effective service delivery across state agencies.

Employer Responses to Unemployment Claims - Streamlines the unemployment insurance process by requiring employers to respond to certain information requests from the Department of Workforce Development, helping to reduce delays and prevent fraud.

Mental Health Facility Grant Program - Establishes a new grant program to support the development of an integrated mental health facility, expanding access to coordinated behavioral health services for those in need.

The Assembly Committee on Transportation also held an executive session this past week and advanced a number of bills aimed at improving road safety and supporting tourism. One proposal targets the use of devices that conceal license plates to evade tolls or traffic citations, reinforcing fairness and accountability for all drivers. Another seeks to clarify rules for out-of-state all-terrain and utility terrain vehicles used in Wisconsin, helping ensure consistency for visiting riders while maintaining safety on our trails. Together, these efforts aim to promote safer roads and a more welcoming experience for all travelers.

As always, please feel free to contact my office with any questions you may have regarding legislation in the Assembly Committee on Transportation or on the floor.
