Why Francesca Hong’s Push to Legalize Prostitution Misses the Mark

Assembly Bill 1193, introduced by Francesca Hong, represents a troubling shift away from the values that have long held our communities together.

As a Democrat candidate for governor, Rep. Hong is advancing a proposal to legalize prostitution in Wisconsin under the guise of regulation and safety. But conservatives understand that laws do more than manage behavior—they shape the moral direction of our state. Legalizing prostitution would send a dangerous message to residents that it is ok to treat the human body like just another object for sale or trade. That is not a step forward; it is a step backward.

Supporters claim this will improve safety and reduce crime. Yet evidence from other regions suggests legalization often expands the market, increasing demand and, with it, the risks of exploitation and human trafficking. Rather than solving the problem, it risks normalizing and entrenching it. And that's not even taking into consideration the public health problems that will come from the spread of diseases or many more unplanned pregnancies.

Wisconsin should be focused on strengthening families, protecting the vulnerable, and promoting dignity—not legitimizing industries rooted in hardship and exploitation.

AB1193 is not the right path for our state. We must reject it and stand firmly for policies that reflect both common sense and enduring values.

These proposals make one thing unmistakably clear: today’s Democrat agenda is increasingly out of step with common sense and the values that protect our communities. From legislation like AB1193 to the Democrat Governor's veto of a bill that would have protected children from pornography, voters are seeing a pattern that cannot be ignored.

Elections have consequences—and if Democrats secure majorities in the legislature and control of the governor’s office, these are exactly the kinds of policies that will shape Wisconsin’s future.

This is not just about one bill or one decision. It’s about the direction of our state. Do we move toward policies that prioritize safety, responsibility, and strong communities—or toward experiments that carry real risks for families and neighborhoods?

The choice belongs to the voters as Tom Tiffany recently put it, "Will we go woke and broke like Minnesota, California, Illinois, and New York" or will our voters choose common sense?

If you believe in common-sense leadership, accountability, and protecting Wisconsin’s future, then now is the time to act. Support Republican candidates who are committed to keeping our state grounded in practical, proven values.

Wisconsin’s future will be decided by those who vote.
