Election Reform Bills Head to the Governor
Passed yesterday were several common-sense election reform bills, aimed at fixing the flaws we know happened in 2020. Voters want to feel confident in the 2022 elections and beyond, and we were happy to pass these reforms.
Many of these bills address the non-partisan Legislative Audit Bureau's 48 recommendations for consideration by the Legislature and the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) to improve election practices.
Wisconsin elections should be accessible, secure, fair, and transparent. The package of election reform bills advances all of these priorities by:
- cleaning and maintaining accurate voter rolls
- ensuring legislative oversight of WEC and estate agencies involved in elections
- closing voter ID loopholes
- securing ballot chain of custody
- reforming indefinitely confined status
- enacting strong penalties for violating election law
- ensuring efficient and timely ballot access on Election Day
- accountability for those who fail to follow election laws
- conducting frequent and comprehensive audits
- strengthening reporting requirements to improve public transparency
- ensuring timely review of election complaints

Who would mind this accurate accounting of who votes?
We have seen some inconsistency in election results, it is time to clean up the process. Anyone who does not see the value here is not thinking clearly or they have a dishonorable agenda. This is a very serious situation, and we must stop tolerating this distortion of what the legitimate voters honorably work so hard for.
