Mark your calendar for Monday, November 6, 2023 to attend a presentation with questions and answers regarding a live update on the lawsuit against the city of La Crosse for its ban on conversion therapy that was passed in September of 2022. Joy Buchman, the plaintiff in the lawsuit, will join Luke Berg from Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) in speaking about the status of the lawsuit.

The ban on conversion therapy prohibits counselors from counseling children who wish to change their unwanted gender confusion or unwanted same sex attractions. Attorneys for the city of La Crosse maintained in an evidentiary hearing in June this summer that children are not allowed to receive counseling to change their unwanted same sex attractions. This is in spite of a desire by the parent and child to do so. Meanwhile, the ordinance allows for counselors to encourage children to change their heterosexual attraction to same sex attractions. This obvious favoring of one viewpoint over another, and the violating of one's constitutional First Amendment rights of free speech, is one of the many reasons WILL is suing the city of La Crosse.

Joy Buchman, who owns Kinsman Redeemer Counseling in La Crosse, became the plaintiff in the lawsuit because she says the ordinance infringes on her constitutional right to counsel those in a way that aligns with her religious beliefs. She says the ordinance also takes away a person's right to chose the type of counseling that supports their religious or personal convictions.

The ordinance allows a person to be fined by the city of La Crosse for up to $1,000 for breaking the ordinance as well as being subjected to an investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS).

Connect Church, located at 3340 Kinney Coulee Rd, Onalaska, WI, and the Save Your Rights Coalition will be hosting this event.

Cake and coffee will be served at 6:00 p.m. with the presentation to begin at 6:30 p.m. A freewill offering will be graciously accepted by the church.

We have an assault on our young people who are much too young to understand life, most of us don't have that until well into our adult lives if then! To suggest that young people can make these decisions is naive and cruel. Again we must stop this adult-sanctioned encouragement to make irreversible decisions that often lead to a life of unhappiness and despair.
