You may remember from school, or maybe a recent article “The Government’s Three Branches”, that there are officially three branches of government based upon The Constitution of the United States and replicated in The Wisconsin Constitution. Many, but less than half, United States citizens can even name them according to recent surveys!
Alongside Reps. Greg Landsman (D-OH), Morgan Luttrell (R-TX), and Chris Deluzio (D-PA), I reintroduced bipartisan legislation to strengthen suicide prevention and mental health support for veterans. The What Works for Preventing Veteran Suicide Act will require the VA to establish and implement best practices for suicide prevention pilots and grant programs.
Did you know that abortion is the leading cause of death in America? Planned Parenthood is raking in nearly $2 million in taxpayer dollars per day to continue its twisted agenda. That’s why Wisconsin Family Action signed onto a letter alongside more than 150 pro-life organizations representing all 50 states to urge Congress to defund Big Abortion.
Gov. Tony Evers’ proposed budget for the biennium that starts in July increases spending by more than $3 billion a year over current levels. That increased spending would be funded in part by increased revenues — about $4.6 billion in higher tax revenue over the two-year period — but also by using up $3.6 billion of Wisconsin’s General Fund balance.
Over 77 million Americans and 1.7 million Wisconsinites put their trust in President Trump to get our nation back on the right track after four years of disastrous policy from the Biden administration. In just 100 days, President Trump has delivered on his promises to the American people.
Our borders are secure and over 100,000 illegal aliens have been deported. The first bill President Trump signed into law was the Laken Riley Act to require illegal aliens who commit crimes in the U.S. be detained instead of released back into our communities and put Americans at risk.
On Tuesday, Assembly Republicans wrote a letter to Gov. Evers asking him to rescind guidance his administration sent to employees directing them not to cooperate with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This guidance impedes the necessary work immigration officials need to do to keep our state and our citizens safe.
I had the privilege this past weekend of speaking at the official dedication ceremony for the new Ho-Chunk World War II Code Talkers Memorial Highway.
It was my bill that was signed into law last session that renamed a local portion of Interstate 90 to honor the members of the Ho-Chunk Nation who served as code talkers during World War II.
That's a wrap.
Earlier this week, the Joint Finance Committee completed its 2025 Budget Road Show with stops in Hayward and Wausau. Previous listening sessions were held in Kaukauna and West Allis.
As Senate vice-chair of the Joint Finance Committee, I will keep the feedback we received in mind as we put together the 2025-27 state spending plan over the next few months.

Last week, the 2025 NFL Draft was held in Green Bay. This was the first NFL Draft held in Wisconsin since Milwaukee hosted in 1940. More than 600,000 people attended the draft, far surpassing organizers’ expectations. This event was a tremendous opportunity for the Packers and the Green Bay area economy!
